| The citizens of Camden, N.J. raised over $1,200,000 for the construction of this hotel. The hotel was named after Walt Whitman, who spent the last nineteen years of his life in Camden. Opened in 1925, the hotel fell on hard times and closed in the 1980's. | ||||||
