Over the summer, bibliographic records were loaded representing the collection of
the latest CONSULS member library, the Connecticut State Library, located in
Hartford. Close to 500,000 records were added to the CONSULS database, which now
totals over 1.1 million records.
The Connecticut State Library (CSL) is a full, State and Federal depository for
government documents. This means that you should now be able to search and find
most government documents within the CONSULS database. The following is a
typical federal government document record added to the CONSULS database since
the load of the CSL records:

In the above record, lines 3 and 4 indicate that the State Library (SL)
owns copies of the document,
1994 NASA authorization: hearing before the Subcommittee on Technology,
Environment, and Aviation of the Committee on Science, Space, and
Technology...
In most cases, the State Library will hold at least one copy of ALL
State and Federal government documents. Additionally, since each of the
CSU libraries are partial depositories for government documents, you may
also find that the CCSU library holds a copy of the same document.
Currently CCSU subscribes to approximately 25% of federal government
documents.
In addition to state and federal documents, the CSL maintains a large
collection of books and periodicals related to Connecticut history and
genealogy. Over 125,000 records fall within this category. To
accommodate genealogy research, a new search option is now available on
CONSULS search menus.
By selecting F > Family Name from the main search menu you may now find
records related to a particular Connecticut family name. A family name search for
Royce Family returns the following record:

In addition to being able to search the CSL Collections, you will soon be able to
borrow selected items from the State Library. Many CSL items are archival in nature and may
not be loaned, but many government documents will be available to CONSULS users.
