Off-campus library users may encounter problems using certain library services
such as Digital Course Reserves and the research databases. You may use AOL to
connect to the internet; however, once you are connected it is recommended you
minimize the AOL window and then use another web browser such as Firefox
(preferably), Internet Explorer or Netscape.
Setting a library PIN allows CCSU students, faculty and staff to view or
listen to course reserves, use subscription databases and e-journal collections
at home, view their library accounts and renew books. You can set a PIN by going to the
following URL:
http://www.consuls.org/patroninfo. Type your BlueChip card number in the
first box. Leave the 2nd box black and click 'Display Record'. Another screen will
appear prompting you to set a PIN. The PIN can be any combination of letter
and/or numbers.
If you previously set a PIN but can't remember it or you're getting an
error message when trying to enter your BlueChip ID number and CONSULS PIN, please contact the
Circulation Department (832-3404). If the library is closed, send an e-mail to circulation@ccsu.edu. Your old PIN code will deleted, which will
allow you to reset it.
In order to view an article on your PC, you need the Adobe Reader
installed on your computer. If you have it installed but are still having
difficulties viewing the articles, please confirm that you have at least
version 5 installed. To do this, open Acrobat and go to 'About Acrobat'
under the 'Help' menu. If you need to install for the first time or upgrade, the most recent version is available as a free download
from the
Adobe website.
AOL Users Special Note: You cannot use the AOL Web Browser to view Electronic
Reserves Documents. See information presented above for instructions on using
library services and AOL.
If you are listening to streamed audio for a course, you need Windows Media
Player version 9 or above installed on your computer. If you need to
install this player for the first time or upgrade, the most recent version is available as a free download
from the
Windows Media website.
If you intend to view multiple course reserve documents you will find it MUCH
easier to log into your
Library Record
before accessing Digital Course Reserves. This makes it possible to view/print
multiple documents without having to login each time.
General CCSU Computing Issues
To obtain a CCSU BlueNet ID for the first time or to change your password,
see the following URL:
https://accounts.ccsu.edu/wacctmgt/.
Spyware is a class of malicious software designed to subvert a computer's
operation for the benefit of a 3rd party. Spyware can cause a computer to
become sluggish, reset a web browser's default homepage, and display unwanted
ads. To rid your computer of Spyware, see
this article.
The library is now a wireless access zone. Please refer to the
FAQ on setting
up wireless access on your notebook computer. Instructions are available for
both Windows and Macintosh platforms. Access to the wireless network is
restricted to enrolled students, faculty and staff.
For other questions related to CCSU computing, please call the Microlab helpdesk
(832-1722) or see ITS User Support Services (http://www.ccsu.edu/its/usersupport/Default.htm).
