Download the SciFinder Scholar Client

Windows

• Click here to download the SciFinder Scholar 2006 installation program for Windows (size: approx. 13 MB). The file can be downloaded anywhere on your hard drive (c:\).
• Run the installation program (SFS2007.exe) by double-clicking. Next, download the file site.prf (right-click and choose " save link as... " or " save target as... ") and copy it to the folder where you installed SciFinder. The default is c:\sfschlr.
• Once the installation program has started, when prompted choose the default installation option labeled typical .
• If prompted with the question "Do you have a disk labeled 'Custom site file?' click No.
• Click Yes if you want to install the SciFinder Scholar Toolbar for Internet Explorer. After installation to view new SciFinder Scholar toolbar in the IE browser, open a browser window, select View > Toolbars > SciFinder Scholar Bar to activate the SciFinder toolbar

SciFinder Scholar Toolbar for use with Internet Explorer
(Windows 98/2000/XP/Me/NT4.0)

Quickly initiate Explore tasks for terms of interest using the SciFinder Scholar Toolbar within Internet Explorer.

1. Download SciFinderScholarToolbar.exe and save it to a temporary folder. (~23.7 MB self-extracting executable.)
2. Double-click the "SciFinderScholarToolbar.exe" icon to install the toolbar.
3. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Macintosh

SciFinder Scholar™ 2007 for Mac OS X (10.3 or 10.4)

1. Download sfs2007.dmg to your desktop or to your download folder. (~14.1 MB)
2. On some systems, Macintosh Disk Image Files (*.dmg) will automatically mount. If not, double-click sfs2007.dmg to mount the disk image. (Macintosh Disk Image Files behave like a CR-ROM; they open an icon on your desktop.)
3. Double-click on the desktop icon SciFinder Scholar.
4. Drag and drop the SciFinder Scholar Application Package (the SciFinder Scholar icon on the white "button") into your Applications folder.
5. Next you must download the file site.prf by "right-clicking" (for Macintosh users, press the CTRL key as you click on the link) and copy it to the folder where you installed SciFinder.
6. Double-click the HardDrive/Applications/SciFinder Scholar icon to launch SciFinder Scholar.
7. (Optional) Create an alias for your Desktop or Dock.

OS X (OS 10.2)

1. Download SciFinder Scholar 2006 sfs2006-osx.dmg (a Macintosh Disk Image File) to your desktop or a download folder on your OS X drive.
2. Double-click "sfs2006-osx.dmg" to mount SciFinder Scholar (a Desktop Volume containing the SciFinder Scholar 2006 Application Package).
3. Open the SciFinder Scholar 2006 Desktop Volume, if it does not auto-open, and choose "as Icons" for the View.
4. Drag and drop the SciFinder Scholar 2006 Application Package (~21.9 MB) to your Applications folder. (The Application Package will be the SciFinder Scholar 2006 "icon" on the white button-like background in Icons view)
5. Next you must download the file site.prf by "right-clicking" (for Macintosh users, press the CTRL key as you click on the link) and copy it to the folder where you installed SciFinder.
6. (Optional) Create a "SciFinder Scholar 2006" alias (shortcut) to the SciFinder Scholar 2006 Application Package for your dock or desktop.

OS 9 and below

1. Click here to download the SciFinder Scholar 2004 installation program for the Macintosh (size: 10 MB).
   
2. Expand this file (with decompression software like "Stuffit Expander").
   
3. Double click on the SciFinder Installer icon.
   
4. Next you must download the file site.prf by "right-clicking" (for Macintosh users, press the CTRL key as you click on the link) and copy it to the folder where you installed SciFinder.
