Great news! A bathroom is being added on the 4th floor. However, there will be intermittent noise until the project is completed. If you need a quiet place to study, the 2nd floor is your best bet. Thanks for your continued patience as we work to spruce up the building!
We’re delighted to announce that circulation desk functions have been successfully relocated to the newly opened first floor. Please stop by to check out library materials and say hello!
You are most cordially invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly renovated first level. The carpet has been laid, the circulation desk has been installed, the furniture is in place– and we think it looks just stunning! The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, August 24 following the Opening Meeting of the Academic Year and the groundbreaking of the new academic building. We estimate that the library ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at approximately 11:30am. Light refreshments will be served. Hope to see you there!
The main entrance of the Library (facing the Student Center) will be closed beginning tomorrow (Wednesday, August 10th) for approximately two weeks for concrete work. During this time, please use the rear entrance of the Library (facing the parking lot). We thank you for your continued patience during our renovation!
Our collection of microfilm and microfiche, including the New York Times, Hartford Courant, ERIC microfiche collection, and lots of other stuff, has been relocated to Stack One. Until our HVAC project is complete, however, please ask a staff member at the circulation desk to retrieve the film you need. Two microform readers and printers are located on the 4th floor. The digital microform reader will remain on Stack One. Please contact the Circulation Dept. (860-832-3404) for an appointment to use this particular machine.
No one likes microfilm (even librarians!), but there are still some materials not available on the web or in print. For our library patrons who operate a microfilm reader with the virtuosity and confidence of a concert pianist, be forewarned– you will be branded a librarian and your expert guidance will be sought by fellow microfilm users! Trust us!
The demolition crew is preparing to take the steps off the south side of the balcony! For the next two days (7/13 & 7/14) the front Handicapped Entrance to the library will be closed while they complete the demolition. The other handicapped entrance will be open from the north side of the building and the parking lot.
