Spring Break Library Hours!

During Spring Break, Saturday, Mar. 15-Sunday, Mar. 23, we will be OPEN Monday, Mar. 17-Friday, Mar. 21, 8am-4:45pm. We will be CLOSED Saturday, Mar. 15; Sunday, Mar. 16; Saturday, Mar. 22; and Sunday, Mar. 23.

We resume our Spring 2014 hours on Monday, Mar. 24. Enjoy the break! 

Writing Hollywood! Free Lecture on the 4th!

Join us in welcoming William J. Mann to the library on Tuesday, March 4th for Writing Hollywood!  The lecture is free and open to the public beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Mann, a former CCSU student, is best known for his biographies of Hollywood celebrities, including Barbra Streisand, Elizabeth Taylor, and Katherine Hepburn among others.  His biography of Hepburn, Kate: the Woman Who Was Hepburn, was one of the New York Times notable books of 2006.  Read more about his work in the Hartford Courant interview.

Writing Hollywood – a Talk by William J. Mann

The Elihu Burritt Library at CCSU invites you to a talk by
William J. Mann
renowned author, historian and CCSU alumnus

Tuesday, March 4th at 4:30 p.m. Burritt Library 2nd floor

William J. Mann is best known for his studies of Hollywood and the American film industry, he is an author of several acclaimed works of fiction and nonfiction, for which he received numerous awards. Mr. Mann was co-editor of Metroline magazine, a gay-lesbian newsmagazine based in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1987 he was one of the founders of Alternatives a gay and lesbian cultural organization in Hartford, which a year later organized first Connecticut Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
Mr. Mann will sign his latest book: Hello Gorgeous: Becoming Barbra Streisand, published in 2012.
