If you are not familiar with the work of Lorcan Dempsey you should be. He is one of the best thinkers out there in libraryland. I highly reccomend his blog at http://orweblog.oclc.org/ He has a very good publication called Reconfiguring the Library Systems Environment http://www.oclc.org/research/publications/archive/2008/dempsey-portal.pdf which is one of the best overviews I’ve read of [...] Steven and I have been having a wonderful flame war on the library list that I thought could work much better on the blog so here goes.
