ILLiad to Tipasa Community at OCLC

From Christa Starck at OCLC

The ILLiad to Tipasa Community has officially launched! We had a great time talking with everyone we met during ALA and look forward to continuing the conversations in this new community space.

If you visited the ILLiad to Tipasa Welcome page following the initial announcement, you are set with access to the new community. Just visit http://oc.lc/illiadtotipasa and log in using the same credentials you used to access the welcome page. Make sure to subscribe to both the Discussion and News boards so all content is sent directly to your email.

If you are not sure what credentials to use, find the option below that best describes your situation.

  1. I know my WorldShare ILL credentials, or I already have credentials to access the OCLC Community Center for another product or service.

If you know your WorldShare ILL credentials or have credentials for any other OCLC product that has Community Center space, you can use those to access the new ILLiad to Tipasa Community. If your institution subscribes to any of the following products, and you have credentials to access that product, use that username & password to log in and access the Community Center:

  • WorldCat Discovery
  • WorldShare Analytics
  • WorldShare Acquisitions
  • WorldShare Circulation
  • WorldShare Collection Manager
  • WorldShare Interlibrary Loan
  • WorldShare License Manager
  • WorldShare Record Manager

If you have requested credentials to access either of the following communities, you can also use these to access the new ILLiad to Tipasa community:

  • CONTENTdm
  • EZproxy

To test access and make sure you can take full advantage of all of the information sharing opportunities when the community launches, complete the following steps:

  1. Visit http://oc.lc/illiadtotipasawelcome.
  2. Select your institution and use your WorldShare ILL credentials to sign in. If you can access this space, you can bookmark this page, and you will just need to log in to access the new community when it is launched.

If your credentials do not work, move to option two or three. If you can log in to the Community Center, but cannot view the ILLiad to Tipasa Welcome page, contact orders@oclc.org.

  1. I know my institution’s nine-digit service authorization number and password associated with my WorldShare ILL subscription.

If you know your institution’s nine-digit service authorization number and corresponding password, you can use these to create your own WorldShare account to access the Community Center. If you know this information or can obtain it from your institution, follow the instructions under “Create an account” on the OCLC Services account page.

  1. I do not have WorldShare credentials and do not know my nine-digit service authorization number and system/admin password.

If neither option one nor two applies to you, please submit the following form: http://oc.lc/illiadtotipasasignup,  and OCLC Order Services will create credentials for you, associated with your institution.

If you have any additional questions about accessing the Community Center or–

Doing the monthly ILL STATISTICS

USE Firefox. ILLiad automatically opens to IE. But, when you check off the Groups that you want, IE will not sort the the LVIS etc groups anymore.

Firefox will. USE IT. Chrome might work too.

ILLiad 8 and ISO request updating

The following was posted to the ILLiad listserv. The next time we do a “Renew Answer – YES” would someone track it and make sure it works properly. I am including the post below for you to take a look at. Thanks… Kim

Posted March 3 to ILLiad Workflow Toolkit List:
Does anyone out there using ILLiad 8 and ISO to receive lending requests know of any issues with ILLiad not sending a “Renewal – OK” message?

We use ISO to receive ILL requests from public & school libraries via our statewide union catalog and I just realized when I receive a renewal request and answer Yes or No, the borrowing libraries are not getting that message. Everything *looks* right in ILLiad-the “Renew Answer-Yes” message supposedly goes out, if you look in the ISO history tab, but it’s not working.

Anyone know about this? For other PA libraries using ISO to receive your Access PA requests, be aware this may be happening with your requests too.

Thanks,

They lost the “Save” button in ILLiad 8.0.10.0

From Genie Powell at Atlas:

You may notice after updating to 8.0.10.0 that the save button in the quick access toolbar at the top of the request form has gone missing and just has a blank space. There’s a long story about another bug that we fixed related to layouts but the point is you can get your save button back easily.

When you are in a request, right click up in that top quick access bar section and choose “Reset to Default” (there should only be 3 options in that menu). That will make the save button come back for good.

Let me know if you have any problems getting it back. Kim

Update to ILLiad 8.0.10.0

From ILLiad:

An update for ILLiad 8.0.10.0 will be loaded on Sunday night so when you come in Monday 12/13 it will prompt you to update.

This update is particularly exciting because it has many new enhancements in it. Atlas went through everything in their development backlog that was an issue for sites that made them still want/need to use 7.4 and addressed them. Some items of note are:

– You can click and drag a tab off of the request form to create a separate form or reorder them however you like. So if you loved seeing the OCLC form on your second monitor, you can now.
– Creating a custom search no longer gives you a loooong list of fields to scroll through but breaks them down by table.
– You can now filter your print jobs to exclude any items you don’t want to print on certain forms like you used to do in Word.

Check out the release notes to see a complete list of all the changes:

Try using ILLiad 8

August is the perfect time to play with ILLiad 8. The way I tried to get used to it, was to just open it and play with it. I think I tried updating outgoing loans first. Then when I had time I tried looking at how the queues work.

The hardest part I felt to get past was the look and the fact that you can have both borrowing and lending tabs open simultaneously, so that you don’t need to keep switching back and forth.

I do need to revisit the subject of why the CONSULS Priority slips do not print correctly in version 8, I will attempt to fuss with that when I get back from vacation. I would just go in and look at the slips and delete the ones that are not CONSULS, then print. If it is the whole file, then ok, delete all the slips.

The other thing I found helpful was the link to ILLiad 8 Documentation. So, I put the link on the blog so we can all find it.

Try it, you might like it……

ILLiad 8 Primer

I was looking for some information today and tripped across this great site. The IDS people have done it again and have created a primer to help you get used to ILLiad 8.

I also have a link to the ILLiad 8 documentation on the blogroll if you have a burning question on how to do something and cannot figure it out. I have been using this a lot, it has saved me many times from getting frustrated.

North American and International Libraries

Reminder: Be sure to select either NorthAmer or Intl Libraries as the Billing Category. That way the billing is correct.

If you forget or find a request that was coded incorrectly, in ILLiad 7.4 you can always do an “UNDO OCLC SHIPPED” from the Process tab. In ILLiad 8.0, click on the OCLC tab at the top and click the UNDO SHIPPED, red icon.

Electronic delivery processing and HRM

Ok, I bet all of you have had this happen, where you import a document into electronic delivery processing from HRM and it does not behave properly and the only alternative is to print it, delete it and rescan it. As far as I know they are the only library that this happens to.

It happened today and I called Christy about it and we think we found the answer. When I looked in ILLiad at HRM’s library record, the addresses for Odyssey and Ariel were both: ill.hartford.edu. Now, who will be the first to ask, when did HRM get ILLiad. They didn’t. What they have is the Odyssey Standalone product. But, the part that really matter is that the addresses were the same. I think that meant when we got a request from them, ILLiad couldn’t deal with the two identical addresses. Christie told me that their Odyssey address has the /ILL after that. So, I modified their record. I think we will never see this happen again to HRM, but if it does, let me know. Actually, if it happens to any other library, let me know, also.

ILLiad’s new Written Off Queue

Chris and I got talking a while back as she processed an OLD unpaid lending BFR. It occurred to me that I could use ILLiad to keep track of this for us. So, today I created a new queue in lending: Written Off Queue.

When we write an unpaid bill off, just route it to this queue and we will keep it there until ILLiad is gone…..
