Archives: One Book One Community (2012)

One Book One Community LogoOne Book One Community grew out of a partnership between the Elihu Burritt Library at Central Connecticut State University, the Central Forum for Contemplative Practices, and Capital Community College.  Its purpose is to encourage schools, colleges and universities, and libraries to read one book authored by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in anticipation of his planned visit to Connecticut in October 2012.  The Dalai Lama’s most recent book, Beyond Religion: Ethics for the Whole World, was selected for participating individuals, schools and organizations to read during the spring and summer of 2012, and come together to discuss the book and participate in activities related to the book in venues throughout the Greater Hartford area. The project will culminate in a full day of reflection and activities at Central Connecticut State University on October 19, 2012.

Central Forum for Contemplative Practices

The Central Forum for Contemplative Practices was developed through the Department of Counseling & Family Therapy at Central Connecticut State University in 2011 and is made up of students and faculty from CCSU and surrounding colleges and universities. The mission of the forum is to provide opportunities for individuals to practice mindfulness and meditation, and to examine the emerging theory and research of contemplative practices (CP) both in teaching and in the practice of counseling and psychotherapy.  Visit our website:
