What are OER and why do they matter when it comes to student success? What role can they play in supporting academic freedom?

The Center for Teaching & Faculty Development (CTFD), the Elihu Burritt Library’s OER Team, and the Instructional Design Technology Resource Center (IDTRC) are hosting a “Lunch and Learn” event about Open Educational Resources (OER) on Friday, February 21, 2020 (CTFD Conference Room, Elihu Burritt Library, Room 316).

“Going Open at CCSU: What Open Educational Resources Mean for You and Your Students’ Success” will offer faculty information about Open Educational Resources (OER), support, events, and funding opportunities offered at the university and state levels. Faculty with any level of experience in OER (novice to creator) are encouraged to come for all or part of the program. Register now at

  • 1:00-1:15 – The Library’s OER Team explains how the library can support faculty with their efforts
  • 1:15-1:45 – Faculty panel on OER, including Mark Jackson (Biology), Brian Sommers (Geography), Jason Snyder (Marketing)
  • 1:45-2:00 – Q & A
