Gale Digital Collections Trial (historical and primary sources)
We have a new trial database – Gale Digital Collections. We will have access to these collections until February 28, 2013. The collections contain a wide variety of historical items and primary source material.
“Gale Digital Collections makes rare, previously impossible-to-access printed matter viewable in a digital format. From the 1100s to the 2000s; from the Wild West to the Far East; from culture and business, to politics and war, to religion and government.”
To access them from the library’s website, click on the Articles & Databases tab (top right), click on G from the alphabetical listing, then click on Gale Digital Collections. (You will need to log in with your Pipeline username and password from off campus.)
Win $350! – Burritt Library Undergraduate Research Awards
This award will recognize excellence in undergraduate research papers/projects as well as skill and creativity in the application of library services, resources and collections. Two prizes of $350 will be awarded during the spring 2013 semester at the Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day (URCAD). One prize will be award to a senior thesis and the other will be awarded to a paper/project from any class/year (if applicable).
**PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LIBRARY RESEARCH AWARD IS A SEPARATE PRIZE FROM THE OTHERS PRESENTED AT URCAD**.
Eligibility:
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be enrolled during the spring 2013 semester as a Central Connecticut State University undergraduate at any class level or discipline/major.
- Have completed their research paper or project for a credit course during the spring, summer, or fall semesters in 2012.
- Agree that the paper or project and application materials will become property of Elihu Burritt Library and may be publicly displayed in the library and/or library website.

Final Exam Week Library Hours
During Final Exam Week, Wed., Dec. 12-Tues., Dec. 18th, the library will be open regular hours: Monday-Thursday, 8am-10:45pm; Saturday, 9am-3:45pm; and Sunday, 2pm-9:45pm. Winter Session Hours begin on Wed., Dec. 19, which you can access here.
Library Amnesty Day
Do you have overdue library books with fines due? Well don’t worry, next Tuesday, December 11th, the library will hold it’s first ever library fine forgiveness day. All you need to do is return the book on the 11th and the fines will be removed!

Therapy Dogs in the Library for Finals
Do finals stress you out? Do you need a little break from studying? Do you love dogs?
Join us on December 4th and 5th when Jessie and Bugs, the therapy dogs, visit us and help us keep our stress levels down. They will be here from 5:30 until 6:30 on the 2nd floor of the library near the balcony. Bugs, the great dane will join us on Tuesday the 4th Jessie, the black lab, will join us on Wednesday the 5th.
Studies have shown that visiting and petting dogs can decrease your stress level, and these therapy dogs are trained to do just that!
Chamber Music in the Library
The Brass and String Ensembles from the Music Department will be playing on the 2nd floor of the library on Monday, December 3rd at noon. Bring your lunch and join us for free entertainment!
Wireless Printing is Here
Wireless printing is now available in the Burritt Library! To download the wireless printing application, go to www.ccsu.edu/its/downloads, then choose the app for either Mac or Windows. Instructions on installing the apps are included in the download.
