Announcing CentralSEARCH!

 Available Tuesday January 21st!

The Burritt Library invites you to try our new Discovery Service, CentralSEARCH, to boost your research results.  CentralSEARCH, powered by Summon, allows researchers to use a single interface to search all of the library’s resources in one place.  The simplified single search box is a feature that many researchers are comfortable and familiar with, but now is super-powered with reliable and credible results.  Instead of searching for journals, databases, and library books in different places, you can search for everything in one easy place using simple keywords.  CentralSEARCH’s faceted searching makes it a snap to narrow or broaden results with one click and gives relevant and helpful suggestions for further research.  Check out the full list of features, and let us know what you think!

Off campus access restored!

Off campus access to library databases and electronic resources has been restored.  There may be one or two remaining items that are not working and should you come across them, please let us know!

We thank you for your patience and once again apologize for the inconvenience.

Off-campus access is unavailable

Off-campus access to our Library databases is currently unavailable due to a change made by our library management system vendor. They are working on the problem and they will let us know when it is fixed.

Update***We are working with the vendor to have the is resolved as soon as possible.  Unfortunately we have no new information yet, but will let you all know as soon as we hear.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

Help the library, earn a gift card!

Sign up to be among the participants who earn a $10 Blue Chip gift card by helping the Elihu Burritt Library test its online resources for “user-friendliness”. The first 10 participants who complete a test of our search engine will receive $10 BlueChip gift cards. Testing will take place at the Elihu Burritt Library the week of December 9th through 13th. The online signup form allows you to choose the most convenient time for you to spend the 15-20 minutes that this test will take. Slots occur every hour on the half hour, starting at 9:30 AM & ending at 3:30 pm, each day.

During the “test”, you’ll be asked to do some basic searching & to provide feedback on the process as you go. We’ll take notes on what you’ve said and use them to try and make our online services better for students.

We’re using EventBrite’s “ticket” option to reserve your preferred time for usability testing (& to ensure that we’ve got the correct demographic information about you beforehand, which will reduce the amount of time it takes to go through the test).

Thank you for your help!
