Face To Face Exhibit of Photographs

Face to Face, an exhibit of photographs by Czesław Czapliński, will be on display on the 2nd floor of the Burritt library until the end of September.
Czesław Czapliński, an artistic photographer, journalist and documentary filmmaker, was born in 1953 in Łódź (Poland). Since 1979 he has divided his time between homes in New York and Warsaw. He is the author and co-author of more than 30 albums and books, whose photographs and articles have been published all over the world.
Czapliński’s works are in the collections of the Library of Congress in Washington, The New York Public Library, The Museum of Art in Łódź, The National Museum in Warsaw and Wroclaw, and The National Library in Warsaw as well as in numerous private collections worldwide.
The Face to Face exhibit consists of original photographs by Czesław Czapliński, including portraits of Czesław Miłosz, Joseph Brodsky, Umberto Eco, Andy Warhol, Walter Cronkite, Wisława Szymborska, Susan Sontag, Michael Jackson and many others.
The exhibit will be on display until the end of September. It is located on the 2nd floor of the library and can be viewed during library opening hours.

New Library Video

Just added to Burritt Library’s video collection is our new introductory library video entitled Library Order:  Burritt Library.  Join library staff and detectives as they sort out the mystery of the missing book!  Will everyone find what they need for their term papers? Will there be enough sources to go around?  Find out the answers to these questions and tour the library in our fun new video!

Book Discussion – Beyond Religion

Please join us on Thursday, June 21st 2012 at 4:00pm in the Special Collections Reading room of the library.

Graduate students in Prof. Jim Malley’s summer class from the Department of Counseling and Family Therapy will be leading a discussion of the Dalai Lama’s book, Beyond Religion: Ethics for the Whole World from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Thursday, June 21.
