We had our first report of a student ‘vaping’ in the library today. So, I wanted to bring to your attention the campus Smoking policy along with a clarification on the subject of ‘vaping’.
University Smoking Policy – with locations of Smoking areas
Because the subject of ‘vaping’ has arisen in the past, the topic was addressed in the January 30, 2015, University Health and Safety Committee meeting. From the minutes of that meeting, Dr. Richard Bachoo advised that e-cigarettes are considered the same as traditional cigarettes for the purpose of the No-Smoking Policy.
Also at that meeting it was also reported that were had been approximately 2-3 e-cigarette related fire alarms that week alone.
