The book sale shelves on the 2nd floor of the Burritt Library have turned into “Free to Good Home” shelves. After May 29, 2015; any remaining items will be recycled or discarded. We are currently using Better World Books to sell and recycle any donations not added to the library collections thus eliminating the need for maintaining the Book Sale Shelves.
More information about our Gift Policy is available on the library website.
A special thank you to all those individuals that have purchased items from our Book Sale Shelves in the past! We appreciate your support!
The S. A. Blejwas Endowed Chair in Polish and Polish-American Studies is proud to present an exhibition:
1989: End of the System
Available for viewing in the Elihu Burritt Library in the month of June during library’s opening hours:
M-Th 8am – 7:45pm
F 8am-4:45pm
S 9am-3:45pm
The exhibit celebrates and commemorates the 25th anniversary of the transition to democracy in Poland. The exhibition presents the crucial role that Poland played in the democratic changes that swept the region at the end of the 1980s. It also marks the 25th anniversary of the collapse of Communism in Central and Eastern Europe, with emphasis on the role of the Solidarity movement in Poland. From the origins of Solidarity in Poland to the turning point of partially-free elections held in Poland in June 1989, the exhibition gives a comprehensive picture of the interrelated political changes taking place across the region that jointly contributed to the fall of the Iron Curtain.
The exhibition was prepared by The KARTA Center, The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York and The Polish Cultural Institute New York.
Access has been restored. Again, thank you for your patience!
